10 days after launch. As we are trying to create media about the technologies in Russia

Hello "Megamind"! Now, 10 days as we try to create a blog about technology and startups in Russia. Today I would like to share the results and observations.

Technocracy – tech blog about venture capital, social media, startups, apps and many other things related to technology. The reason is very simple – in our humble opinion, the niche is not quite filled. Even more than free. Many media specializing in technology, losing sight of the events that happen here and now.

The news of Apple extends to several dozen sites within one minute, but no one says how tough the Russian startup raised 500 000 pounds. Everyone is writing about new performance of Elon musk and new technologies in Tesla, but nobody writes about two graduates of the faculty of robotics of MEI, which are hand-picked drones.

It seems to us that the Russian market is deprived of attention. As a rule, if a Russian company about themselves say about them, no one will remember. All the writing that is everywhere. And it's not even exclusive – Russian companies doing cool things, just do not notice. It's not jingoism, it's simple observation.

It seems to us that the audience will be wondering what is happening here in Russia. What are the achievements, innovations and successes of the Russian companies, and not from Pinterest or Flickr, whose audience in Russia is not very big.

The idea to create a project in the head lingers for a long time, but still can not reach the hands, while in a network did not spread the news that Facebook introduces dislike knokw.

The fact that I really like Facebook, I think Zuckerberg's ideal of what a man should be at the intersection of business and technology. He was not limited to social media, constantly changing, expanding, bought Oculus, Instagram (they then blossomed), turned on the surround video in the timeline, working on internet.org. In a word, I sat there and watched his performance, online broadcast on Facebook (as the time it was first experience streaming video in the social network), when suddenly he said he has long asked to introduce a dislike button, but he is against it. But he still is going to implement a button similar to dislike.

In the morning I saw that my chronicle is filled with news about the fact that Facebook appears dislike. Wrote a Secret, a CPU (VC), theRunet, Euronews and other publications. And they refer to each other – no one came to check it out, especially because it was recorded on video and was in the public domain.

That's when I realized that the niche is free and it will be possible to borrow. Well, or at least try. Wrote a post, which then turned into a article. And here is the irony, the article was written 4 September, Facebook introduced a new button, and the Secret and all the others again wrote "Facebook refused to announced button dislike" — it is generally not announced, and never was going to enter, but our media continues to write, delving into the essence.

A month passed and I vigorously sawed website (regular WordPress, but I have a liberal arts education, and I struggled to dig into the code and edit theme files for you), picking topics, writing articles. We start on 30 September. Then hung up the metric.

During this time there were published 45 articles. Well, 10 of them were still in September, to be honest. Visited the website 10 days 1 392 man:

The hypothesis that in Russia a lot of cool companies and cool specialists was confirmed. Here, for example, Alexander Antonov. Those who are older, should remember his website RMP.ru (the late 90s and mid-2000s) or Lady (the first Dating site). A veteran of the Internet, doing business on the Internet since 1995 (I honestly don't remember what I did in 1995. Probably ate sand and learned to tie the laces) and very modest about herself won't say anything until he asks. By the way, its Puzzle English now a month is visited by 2 million.
Or those guys who collected manually quadcopters. Graduates of Moscow power engineering Institute, faculty of robotics. Both 24-25 years old. Harvested by hand and sell. And fly their drones. With them generally interesting story. Guys really believe that they are on the margins of technology startups. And said, when I asked why nobody knows them.

Or Olga Ershova from Lobster. It generally is a revolutionary product that constantly flashes on TechCrunch and Bloomberg. Potentially one of the best Russian startups, though there is an office in London.

Similarly, Zara Martirosyan. The guys in Yerevan, but the roots of Russian. Visited recently, TechCrunch disrupt of doing an app for fitness trackers. Went out to the whole world.

Startups in Russia, those who do cool things, too much. Not like in the US, but not so small that they do not write, concentrating on the global players. And they all want to share experiences, motivate by example, talk about the history.

In Russia, a huge number of interesting events. Every day. Not changing the design of Kinopoisk, Yandex will never return, because that would mean weakness and inadequacy, as a market leader. No. Here the prospects of mHealth is potentially a major niche for startups. And it is in Russia. Even foreign analysts believe that Russia will become a leader in mHealth, and our do not write about it.

From this, I would like to move forward with the process. I the last 6 years looming from journalist to PR person from the employee in the Agency at the client side, from the editors to the newsmaker. This allows you to see the situation from both sides. Here, as in the wisdom of Lenin that became a meme "leaders do not want the lower classes can not", only to paraphrase "First do not want second spit".

Journalists are not interested in the success of Russian companies, PR is not interesting to journalists. Second send a dull press releases, first sadly send them back. The second write cool articles, first asking for them for money as a jeans. In the end, PR is limited to regional publications, journalists are going to reprint the stuff about Apple.

That's the whole problem. This is the problem we are trying to solve. While that is not very good, but material a bit.

We have abandoned the BuzzFeed format and not write the article "10 startups that will surprise you" or "6 of the founders that never sleeps." Decided to concentrate exclusively on the Russian market, only occasionally posting something global.

Startups are happy to go forward. We have published two requests for Pressfit – responded to more than 30 IT companies. However, not all processed, as many PR people still trying to send the press release as we want a simple speech of man. With those who turned out, we made materials and published.

And among journalists, among the spin doctors, IT companies a lot of those who knows nothing about your product. It's sad. But there are those who know better than the founders – with them we materials and made. Sometimes it comes across and that is (was launch day):

In General, IT is very positive field directed at the creation. In other areas of journalism, not so, believe me. Working here and meeting with representatives, live and feel positive, technology, creation and creativity in its purest form.

A little about the project. No investment no. Brother helped with hosting and domain. The very much — the Russian market of startups and cool developments alive. Bubbling and evolving. Both in breadth and depth. The field is so deep and full that the diving time will not come up.

Wish us luck! Thank you.
