Eavesdropping FBI using Google Maps
Network engineer Bryan Seely (Bryan Seely) tired of abundant spam on Google Maps. He has repeatedly appealed to Google to improve the moderation and even opened a Twitter account with the publication of examples, but to no avail. Then resourceful engineer invented a way to draw attention to themselves.

He posted on Google Maps a few fake ads, specifying the addresses of the FBI and the US Secret service, but their own phone numbers. When people call these numbers, Brian sent the call to the real rooms of the security services — and included the audio recording.
Recorded a few conversations for evidence (1, 2), he went with them to the local office of the Secret service. Agents met "spy" with proper cordiality: he laid on the floor face down, mirandized and taken to the interrogation room. However, he managed to explain to the intelligence agencies that he is on their side. In email correspondence, one of the agents even called him a "hero" because he revealed a serious vulnerability. After a few hours of Brian was released.
The problem with fake ads on the Google Maps there are already at least four years. Spammers that sell popular places that go to the top of search requests based on user location. Some just advertise for fun.

After this story, Google responded quickly and removed some of the phony ads, but essentially the problem remained.
Well, the fake Secret service office Bryan removed from the card alone, at the request of the special services, making a screenshot memory.
