Russian and Portuguese startups at MassChallenge (may 2012)
may 11, visited MassChallenge in Boston at the presentation of the Russian and Portuguese startups. Who knows — MassChallenge is such a "greenhouse" for start-UPS, helping young companies to find sponsors, providing a temporary place to work and some other support.
The event was called Russian and Portuguese Startups Demo Day. The main contingent from Russia was from Moscow state University, MIPT and the RAS Institutes, all young guys in the 22-25 years that I was very pleased. The overall impression is very positive, the majority of start-UPS from scientific area aimed at farmatek, biotech and medicine. Great original ideas from start-UPS, it was not all they are based on ideas published quite a long time (5-10 years at least), but the material realization of these ideas is a vital problem that guys just want to decide or have decided, since most of them already have a compact working prototypes. Almost all of the Russian guys spoke English, which I was also happy. We looked on a par with Portuguese start-UPS, very dignified, but I was under the impression that our guys have lame protection intellectual property projects, also we 100% won in the age of the participants, as almost all Portuguese startups were submitted by people over 30.

My main specialization is computer development of drugs, higher education in Pharmaceutical chemistry, so all of the startups from the clones of Facebook and other web2.3-0 Orgy makes me a little emotional. All comments and insights about startups my personal last resort are not.

Review: with germs, more or less clear — they can find unique genetic information, although the problem of noise from the natural microbes will be large.
